Best free program to make chibi 3D models to use as sprites in an MMORPG?

I recently took on the challenge of constructing an MMORPG. A sidescroller.



I'd like to attempt making a 3D chibi-ish character for this game to use as the player character.



I need a free, strong program for making 3D models and textures and all that, that is user friendly.Best free program to make chibi 3D models to use as sprites in an MMORPG?
You can use Blender for 3d models and Gimp for teh textures...
