I would recommend guild wars. You do initially have to buy the game (but its really cheap now newayz) but once you have it there are no additional subscription fees like other MMO games.
No one ever mentions DOMO... (Dream of Mirror Online)...
I would check the Aeria website for a few mmorpg s..

What is the best possible FREE mmorpg I can get on the internet?Currently, the best options you have are Perfect World (get the Malaysian translation over the International one; I hear they botched a lot of things), Flyff (though I don't recommend it, IMO), Runescape, DragonFable, Adventure Quest, NeoSteam, and... I guess that's it. :) Hope it helps.

First off, I don't think WoW is free.
Second, you could check www.nexon.com or www.aeriagames.com to see if you like any of their games. Or you could go to downloads.com and see most popular.
And personally, I found runescape incredibly boring with awful graphics.
For free? Runescape.com is a good mmorpg. 24 different skills you can train, quests, monsters to kill, people to talk to. It is free, but you can become a member for 5 dollars a month and get some members only content. Hope this helps and best of luck!

runescape... it's free, theres lots to do, you can fight other players and it's lots of fun. With the new graphics update it looks good too.
Runescape is the best. All the other ones just click click click and you easily get bored. If you get bored, you'll eventually come back.
um runescape?? its like world of warcraft but gay graphics and a TON of noobs!! Oh yea now if looking for a fps online game then try Combat Arms. just that it has alot glitches
