How to make a 3d mmorpg from scratch?

I have been trying to make a 3d mmorpg for the last 2 years and i have a group of 5 people that can help me but i need to know what coding languages i need to know, i already know html and a little bit of c++ please help. How to make a 3d mmorpg from scratch?
A 3D MMORPG... the dream of many, the failure of many. Over the last 15 years, I have seen hundreds of attempts. One succeeded (secondlife). All others, with huge amounts of money, with good, well experienced staff, have failed. Even Adobe abandonned its "Atmosphere".

So, don't be too hopeful: it is the most complicated and demanding task.

You know HTML and a bit of C++... That's a start.

Add javascript, java, php, mysql, python. Become an expert at C++. Try Flash as well (with action script).

Then, you will have to learn how to develop your characters with Blender (living things), AutoCAD (constructions), Terragen (nature), 3DS Max (other man-made animated "things"). Add Physics for "collisions".

But, before all: choose your "3D rendering engine" (Google it). Ogre is one of them, and free. But learning to use it may cost you a few months to get the very basics.

Good luck and don't despair. How to make a 3d mmorpg from scratch?
It's really hard to recommend any specific MMO game, because everyone likes something different. A game I like you may hate. Check out http://mmohut.com for a large list of these free mmorpg / mmo games. I use that site to find new games to play. Every few days I try a new game :) - It's a lot of fun because I try everything. They have like every single MMORPG categorized nicely with reviews, screenshots, videos and more. Heck they even list the game's system requirements!. Best part is all the games are free, which rocks.

They have a huge section for "no download" browser MMORPGs as well. All with screenshots and reviews!

Let me know if this helped at all!How to make a 3d mmorpg from scratch?
Holy crap. A 3D MMORPG from scratch with five people and some of them aren't very experienced?

That's a pretty monumental task you're taking on.

At the very least you'll learn something.

Good luck on your endeavor.
